The mesothelioma community is growing, I don't know exactly how or why it's worth so much, but i did look it up on dictionary.com. And come to find out it is a form of lung cancer caused by asbestos. Now why would they want people to know about that to the point of out spending other advertisers on the net? and then it hit me. It came straight out of a book i read, about the riches men on the planet. Men who hit billion dollar home runs, and fly in 40 million dollar private jets. I'm talking about class action suit lawyers. The biggest of the big boys, but also the quietest. These guys start firms for one case. These guys hire hundreds of people for one case. They hire investigators, doctors, professors, politicians, homeless people, all to scour and "sign up". And they race to see who can get the most. The signups are ussually found by spending gazillions of dollars on advertising. The more people they sign up before the company they plan to sue settles, the more money they make. Heres an example: a firm signs up 1000 people for a class action suit against a big corporation because the made a bad product that made many sick across the country. The company decides not to go to court and settles for a sum of money, say a sum big enough where all the "signups" get a settlement for $10,000. Thats ten million dollars, and the firms cut is anywhere from 3 million to 5 million, right off the top, for fees and the like. Now imagine 100,000 "signups" at $50,000, with the firm getting 30-50% off the top. That is murder money, what i mean is, when that type of money is involved, the real world turns into a movie. All the spy crap and b movies you see on television, is behind the doors at the law firms. I don"t really care one way or the other, but i bet it makes insurance cost more, much more. So next time you see a run on advertising, look at the people who are bankrolling it, bet its a bunch of nogoodniks. And because i don't want to seem unsensitive to those afflicted with this terrible disease, i want to post a few tidbits about the disease and its effects on people. According to The National Cancer Institute, malignant mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer, is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the sac lining of the chest (pleura), the abdomen (peritoneum), or the heart (pericardium). Most people diagnosed with mesothelioma have worked on jobs The Department of Health and Human Services, the World Health Organization, and the Environmental Protection Agency have determined that asbestos is a human carcinogen. It is well documented that breathing asbestos fibers can increase the risk of cancer in people. Exposure to asbestos has been considered a major occupational health hazard since the first adverse effects were noted in the mid-20th century. At that time, there appeared to be an association between asbestos and lung cancer. Subsequently, it was noted that asbestos also caused pleural thickening. By the 1960s, a definite association between asbestos and mesothelioma, a rare cancer of the lining of the lung or the lining of the abdominal cavity was apparent. The association between lung cancer and asbestos exposure is now well established. Although in most studies, all histologic types of cancer are seen, there appears to be a preponderance of adenocarcinoma. Lung cancer in asbestos-exposed workers is thought to occur at a slightly younger age than other lung cancers, and these cancers are more commonly located in the lower lobes of the lungs. There is what is called a "synergistic effect" between cigarette smoking and asbestos exposure, thus the risk of getting lung cancer rises to extraordinarily high levels if the exposed person is also a smoker. If you have been exposed to asbestos, you should stop smoking. This may be the most important action you can take to improve your health and decrease your risk of lung cancer. So take care and if you are afflicted with this terrible disease, be careful who you become a "signup" for
